When she is not taking classes, most of her time is spent working as a waitress at Bertucci’s in Warwick, Rhode Island. She makes time in her busy schedule to go back home to Richmond to visit her two dogs named hot dog and beans. When she is not balancing school and work, Jackie relaxes by sleeping, reading, and watching reality television.
Jackie grew up in Richmond, Rhode Island, where she attended Chariho High School. She played softball recreationally for many years and was a member of the chess and art clubs in high school. She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst for a year after graduation but chose to leave after an unsuccessful first year. She later decided to continue her education at the University of Rhode Island because it is cheaper and closer to her hometown of Richmond. As a journalism major, Jackie hopes her career will allow her to meet new people, learn new things, have new experiences, and travel. She enjoys taking women’s studies classes as well.

Jackie also participates in a Native American singing group with her mother and sister. The singing group is a way for Jackie to connect with her Native American heritage as well a share the culture with others through a performance. The group has traveled to Saratoga Springs, New York to perform and performs here in Rhode Island as well. The members of the singing group have visited Narragansett High School and other local middle schools. Their performances include singing, dancing, and they also teach the students about Native American tradition and culture. Jackie uses her voice as a way to share her Native American culture with others just as she hopes to use her voice to share a message as a journalist.
